#30 in the series......Lena is a painting I did from an old sepia tone photo from the 1800's that a couple I met let me have, so I could paint her. Evelyn Pierce was this womens great great granddaughter. Lena was 22yrs old in this photo. Lena married Roswell Marston in 1862. They had two children. Lena died giving birth to her second child. When I saw the photo of her I was so deeply touched, I cannot even explain why, I just knew I must paint her, I keep the photo of her on the back of the canvas of this painting, with the story that I know of her.
