About Lisa Rose Musselwhite
I create because I must! I have a driving desire to create my emotions as I delve within myself to find the truth of who I really am. Iv'e lived to many years listening to society and to others as to how I should live and who I should be. I am who I am and I must be this and continue on this journey of self awareness through my artwork, meditation, nature, my animals, and family and friends. At the same time looking for balance.
George Leonard said: "At the heart of each of us there existis a silent pulse of perfect rhythm which is absolutely unique and individual, yet which connects us to everything in the Universe."
This silent pulse of rhythm is what I search for in myself and I want to express through my artwork. May the spirits grant me the time and the insight to achieve this goal.
I have lived in the Pacific Northwest all my life and I love it here. I have done some traveling and I got to go to the Vincent Van Gogh museium in Amsterdam. That was an amasing treat for me, I have always admired how hard this man tried in his life to find his way. I love the book "The Letters of Vincent Van Gogh" It tells his story and who he was. If you havent read it, it is worth your time.
I have been drawing since I was a child. I am a oil painter and a photographer and I love to make beaded jewelry. My Jewelry is quite popular in the Gresham, Portland area. I have taken several art classes and some intensive 3 day art workshops from the school of "Light and Color" by Susan Sarback. I love bright color, I feel it brings to life what may not otherwise be seen. I am a member of the Art Committee in my neighborhood and we put on 6 to 8 Art Gallery shows a year. I have curated several shows, I have been on the local television as the host to our local art shows. I have also had my artwork featured in the local papers here in my city. I love to promote the art and help others to move forward. I used to be an art teacher. Oh how I loved that, but with cut backs I am no longer doing this. Childern are so wonderful and so full of enthusiasm about learning and want to listen to what you want to teach and the love I have to share and the love and trust they share with us.
Since 2001 I have done many exhibitions and even sold my work in the "Made In Oregon" stores. My exhibitions have all been in my local area.
The major infulences in my life would be my children, my high school art teacher, Charles Buyukas my friend Mark Williams and a friend Douglas McClure. They have given me such love and support, even when I did not believe in myself they have believed in me.
The great artists who influence me are Vincent Van Gogh, Henri Matisse, Susan Sarback, Monet to name a few......
